Although there are many choirs in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, only one is directed by Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight: the Saints Unified Voices. And its an LDS choir unlike any youve ever heard!
Under the direction of Gladys Knight, the choir presents uplifting and inspiring music reflective of the many ways people of different cultures worship and celebrate the Lord.
The 100 voices of the SUV Choir, as they affectionately call themselves, are men and women from many different backgrounds and cultures. All are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most live in the greater Las Vegas area, but a few commute from Utah and California. In addition, some of Gladys Knights professional crew from her show at the Flamingo Hotel volunteer their assistance in creating the music so unique to this choir. They join together to share their love for music and their faith in Jesus Christ.
Since Gladys Knight organized her choir in 2002, it has performed numerous times in Las Vegas as well as being featured at two Deseret Books Time Out for Women events. In 2003 the Saints Unified Voices was invited by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to perform in the historic Mormon Tabernacle on Temple Square to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the LDS Churchs announcement allowing all worthy men to hold the priesthood. In January 2005 Gladys Knight released One Voice, her first recording with the SUV Choir. From the energetic, gospel classic Pass Me Not, to the inspirational solo, He Lives, to the intensely popular Did You Know? One Voice uplifts and inspires the soul. One Voice is available nationwide at stores where music is sold.
The SUV Choir has received IRS nonprofit 501 (c)(3) status, and gratefully accepts tax-deductible donations to allow the choir to present religious programs in LDS stake centers throughout the United States and possibly the world.
